There is an exciting new service that we will be offering at Build A Church Website.  Over the next few weeks we will be rolling out our new live streaming video service for churches. This new service will offer on demand videos of previously recorded live services as well. Once a live service is over it will automatically go into the on demand que.

We are also working on making this new service plugin to our current sermon manager as well. This will open up a whole new world of possibilities for our clients. It will also be compatible with all fo the newest mobile devices. If one of your parishoners cannot get to your service they will be able to watch it live right on their iphone or ipad. We are truly moving forward at BACW.

We are working out all of the semantics now and will be rolling this out sometime in May. This will work in conjunction with our partner Clickstream TV.   Stay tuned and get ready for the next generation of live video for your ministry!

So here comes the new "debate'.  Back in the 90's you would email your edits to the company keeping your website and they would update it for you. There are still some that do this, but it is definitely not the best way to do things today.  In the early and mid 00's the new platforms of the mighty CMS's came onto the scene. Programs like Mambo, and eventually Joomla, as well as Wordpress, Drupal, Xoops, Typo3, Website Baker, and many more erupted onto the web. 

During the same time Flash design saw a sort of "re-birth".   Flash use to be really annoying as so many things moved on the screen that it would make your head hurt.  While you will still find some of these annoying sites, there are more and more companies building Content Management Systems built in flash.  Flash is pretty and crisp.  Many of the limitations that plagued the flash world have gone away and now the Flash CMS can be a legitimate contender to folks needing a website. 

There is something to keep in mind though.  If flash were the best thing going then why do sites like MTV, Walmart, and the like use Open Source content management systems built on PHP?  Why have they not made the "leap" into this "new" technology?  You couls argue that Walmart is made to be ugly and is just a nuts and bolts mega seller of products. Why then do sites like MTV use php driven CMS's? 

While it is true that flash has come a long way, it is very limited.  The CMS programs that are built in flash are easy to use.... this is true, but if you want to do something outside of the box, then the system is very limited.  It is made one size and it just does not fit all.   The best thing going today is to use a good flexible CMS that is built off of a database that can use a combination of flash, php, html, and database technologies.  You get the best of all worlds, and the future flexibility to boot!

Deciding what to do about your church website can be a daunting task. There are many options, and many price points. It can be nerve ranking, and really a test of your faith.  A website is very important to every ministry.  This holds especially true in today's generation.
